The Tesla app finally has a proper version for bigger screens. Tesla is rolling out a redesigned app for the iPad, iPhone Duo, and Android tablets and foldables, according to Tesla UI engineer Alex Guichet, who wrote that the app is finally available “on the big screens you bring around with you.”
Until now, you could run the iPhone app on an iPad, but it was just a stretched-out version of the phone app. The new app has a dedicated layout that uses the extra space to show more information at once.
A Layout Built for Bigger Screens

The new app puts the main menu on the left and a large vehicle visualization on the right. The menu shows the same sections as the phone app, including Controls, Climate, Location, Self-Driving, Summon, Charging, Set Schedules, Security & Drivers, and Safety Score, along with quick status details like your cabin temperature and how much of your driving was on FSD.
The extra room means you don’t lose your place when you open a section. Tap into Charging, for example, and its submenu stays on the left while the details fill the rest of the screen.
Guichet said Tesla’s designers “rethought many screens across the app to fill a bigger size,” adding that the team is still brainstorming and will ship improvements in upcoming updates as they implement them.
A Visualization That Looks Like Your Car’s Screen
The vehicle visualization isn’t just a larger version of the 3D model at the top of the phone app. It’s more detailed and looks a lot like the parked visualization inside your car, complete with an ambient background color that matches your vehicle’s paint and reflections on the ground beneath it.
You can still open your frunk or trunk, lock or unlock your car, and check charging status directly from the visualization.
New Customize Controls and Show PSI Buttons
Below the visualization, you’ll find quick controls like Flash, Honk, Start, and Vent. Tesla added a Customize Controls button there, making the option more discoverable and consequently making it easier to change which actions appear in this area.
There’s also a new Show psi button that displays your tire pressures right on the visualization, so you don’t have to dig into the Controls menu to check them.
Energy and Charging Get the Big-Screen Treatment
Tesla Energy customers get the new layout too. The Home Status screen shows a 3D house with live readings for solar, Powerwall, home usage, the grid, and even your car charging in the garage. Sections like Energy, Impact, Virtual Power Plant, and Go Off-Grid are listed alongside it.
The Charge Stats screen also makes good use of the space. It shows a full-width map of the Superchargers you’ve visited, plus your total energy charged, total spent, money saved compared to gas, and a monthly breakdown of where you charged. The charts and graphs are much easier to read thanks to the additional screen real estate.
iPhone Duo Support
The new app also supports Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo, which starts shipping and hitting Apple Stores this week. Screenshots shared by Max Weinbach show the big-screen layout on the iPhone Duo’s inner display, with charging details, Live Camera, and recent dashcam clips on the left and the new vehicle visualization on the right. Fold it closed, and the outer screen switches back to the familiar phone layout.
A Slow Rollout
The update is rolling out now and should reach the App Store and Google Play soon, but don’t expect it right away. Guichet said this will be a slow rollout, adding that it “may take an extra week or two for everyone to get it” while Tesla makes sure it looks right on every screen.
As he put it, “our app is bigger than you imagine.” Guichet also credited the Tesla designers and engineers who worked on it, saying “it took a village to get this done.”
This is the latest of several recent Tesla app updates, following passkey support for faster, more secure biometric logins last month. With Tesla already promising more polish in future releases, expect the big-screen layout to keep improving over the next few updates.
